Salary Range: $55,000 to $65,000

Summary of Position:

The Upper School Admission Office at Milton Academy is seeking an Assistant Director of Admission to play a pivotal role in a fast-paced, high-volume admission process. The Assistant Director will work collaboratively with the Admission team on the recruitment and assessment of Upper School applicants.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of and appreciation for the unique mission and characteristics of a New England independent boarding/day school, specifically Milton Academy, with its vibrant multicultural community.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Perform a full range of recruiting and admissions selection responsibilities, including:
    • Reviewing and evaluating admissions applications.
    • Interviewing prospective students.
    • Interviewing prospective parents.
    • Serve on an admissions selection committee.
    • Travel extensively to recruit students.
    • Generally participate in the life of Milton Academy.
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Supervision to be received: Supervised by the Dean of Enrollment and Financial Aid

Supervision to be exercised: N/A

Education/Certification/Licensure

Required: A bachelor’s degree.

Experience

Required: A minimum of three years of proven experience in a fast-paced, selective admission office at the secondary or college level

Preferred: Experience working in an independent boarding school

Competencies

Required:

  • Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with particular competencies in writing and editing.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituencies.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and related issues.
  • Receptive to supervision and professional development.
  • Desire to be a part of a dynamic educational community.
  • Demonstrated computer expertise, including proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud.

Physical Abilities

Required:

  • Must be able to work at a computer for up to 8 hours each day in conjunction with OSHA requirements.
  • Must be able to move around the Milton Academy campus without restriction.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to travel regionally, nationally, and internationally.
