Summary of Position:

The Upper School Admission Office at Milton Academy is seeking an Assistant Director of Admission to play a pivotal role in a fast-paced, high-volume admission process. The Assistant Director will work collaboratively with the Admission team on the recruitment and assessment of Upper School applicants.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of and appreciation for the unique mission and characteristics of a New England independent boarding/day school, specifically Milton Academy, with its vibrant multicultural community.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Perform a full range of recruiting and admissions selection responsibilities, including:
    • Reviewing and evaluating admissions applications.
    • Interviewing prospective students.
    • Interviewing prospective parents.
    • Serve on an admissions selection committee.
  2. Travel extensively to recruit students.
  3. Generally participate in the life of Milton Academy.
  4. Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Supervision to be received: Supervised by the Dean of Enrollment and Financial Aid.

Supervision to be exercised: none at this time.

Education/Certification/Licensure

Required: Bachelor’s degree.

Experience

Required: 1-2 years of experience as an admissions officer in a fast-paced, selective admissions office at the secondary (boarding preferred) or college level.

Preferred: 3-5 years of experience in a fast-paced, selective admission office at the secondary (boarding preferred) or college level

Physical Abilities:

Required: Must be able to work at a computer for up to 8 hours each day in conjunction with OSHA requirements. Must be able to lift small packages (up to 5 pounds). Must be able to move without restriction around the Milton Academy Campus, and must be able to travel regionally, nationally, and internationally.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituencies.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism while handling complex and confidential materials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with particular competencies in writing and editing.
  • Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Receptive to supervision and professional development.
  • Desire to be a part of a dynamic educational community.
